WSOP® Clicks Tournament Rules
Players Must Be on Time! Cut of to register on May 23 is 1:30pm NO EXCEPTIONS!
1. Clicks’ Pit Bosses are to consider the best interest of the game and fairness as the top priority in the decision making process. Unusual circumstances can, on occasion, dictate that the technical interpretation of the rules be balanced against the interest of fairness. The floor person’s decision is final and not appealable.
2. All players must register and sign in prior to the start of the event.
3. At registration, entrants will be assigned to a table and a seat randomly. No seating requests will be accepted.
4. If the participant is not present at the start of the tournament, all forced blind bets will be removed from their stacks accordingly. This rule applies throughout the tournament if a player is to leave their seat at any time not determined to be a designated break time. If a player has not returned from a designated break and play has been announced to resume, that player will be given one round, including the posting of their blinds, to return to their seat. If the player has not returned after this point, the player will be removed from the tournament and their chips will be left on the table and be blinded in until the table is broken down at which point they will be removed from the play.
5. Penalties: A penalty MAY be invoked if a player exposes any card with action pending, if a card(s) go off the table, if soft play occurs, or similar incidents take place. Penalties WILL be invoked in cases of abuse, disruptive behavior (towards players, staff, or Clicks’ Pit Bosses), or similar incidents. All penalties will be issued in Clicks’ sole discretion. Being barred from the tournament will also bar you from your home club location!
6. Penalties available for use by the Clicks’ Pit Bosses are verbal warnings – 10, 20, 30 and 40 minutes away from the table – and may be used with discretion. These may be used by Clicks up to and including disqualification. A player who is disqualified shall have his or her chips blinded but will no longer be allowed to play.
7. The one-player-to-a-hand rule will be enforced.
8. The English-only rule will be enforced in the United States during the play of hands.
9. A player who wants to use a cellular phone must step away from the table. If there is a hand in play or being dealt, the player is treated as if they are away from the table.
10. There will be no foreign objects on the table except for a maximum of a card protector. You are encouraged to cap your cards for your own protection.
11. Deck changes will be on the Pit Boss decision, limit changes or as otherwise prescribed by Clicks. Players may not ask for deck changes.
12. When time has elapsed in a round and a new round is announced, the new limits apply to the beginning of the next hand. A hand has begun with the first riffle of the deck.
13. Cards must be visible and kept on the table at all times.
14. Players must keep all chips visibly displayed at all times. Players may not have tournament chips in their pockets at any time. A player who has chips in his or her pockets will forfeit the chips. The forfeited chips will be taken out of play from the tournament. Chip racks will be provided for those who need them to move to another table. Once moved, chips must be put on the table and the rack removed.
15. High Denomination Chips must remain visible at all times.
16. No rabbit hunting is allowed.
17. Dead button: Tournament play will use a dead button.
18. Dead small blind: Tournament play will use a dead small blind when necessary. There will never be a dead big blind.
19. The button will have the small blind in heads up play.
20. Proper shuffling is required when a player is dealing (i.e., you may not just strip or wash the cards and then proceed to deal). The cut will always be offered to the player on the immediate right of the dealer, except when a Clicks Pit Boss is dealing, at which point no cut will be offered to a player.
21. In the event that a card is exposed, the exposed card becomes the first burn card and dealing around the table continues with the next card going to the player next of the person whose card was exposed. The player whose card was exposed then receives the final card of the deal.
22. If the first card dealt to either blind is exposed, the result is a misdeal and all cards come back in for a new shuffle and re-deal. If the second card is the exposed card, the cards continue to be dealt following rule #20.
23. If two or more cards are exposed, or the cards are dealt in the wrong order, it is a misdeal and all cards come back in for a new shuffle and re-deal.
24. Blind schedules/limits may be altered as needed at the Clicks’ Pit Bosses discretion. Tournament play will end on Saturday when either the blind schedule ends or when there are 45 players, whichever occurs first.
25. When the tournament is down to the final 10 players, hand for hand play will begin until we have 9 players resulting in a final table.
26. Tables will be broken in a posted order/manner and available to all players. However, due to certain circumstances, Clicks reserves the right to alter that order.
27. Moving players: When combining tables, players will be moved from the big blind to the worst position. Players going from a broken table to fill in seats assume the rights and responsibilities of the position. New participants are dealt in immediately unless they sit down in the small blind or button position. In those two cases, they must wait until the button passes. A player moved to balance tables will take the worst position. A dead button situation may occur.
28. A player who intentionally dodges his or her blind(s) when moving from a broken table will forfeit the blind(s) and/or incur a penalty. The money will be put into the next pot and will be considered dead money.
29. Players are obligated to protect the other players in the tournament at all times. Discussing cards discarded or hand possibilities are not allowed.
30. A player who exposes his or her hand during the play may incur a penalty. Betting will continue with other players who have not acted having an advantage of knowing what they are betting against. You are highly encouraged not to show or discuss your hand. If a player mucking their cards shows their hand to another player, even if out of the hand, all penalties available for use may be employed by the Clicks’ Pit Bosses.
31. Verbally disclosing the contents of your hand or advising a player how to play a hand may result in a penalty, at Clicks’ discretion.
32. Chip race rule: When it is time to color up chips, they will be raced off per color and rounded up to the next increment to the winner of the race. The chip race will always start in the No. 1 seat. Players will get one card per odd chip. Suit rank will NOT break ties. In the event of a tie, the deck will be reshuffled and the players involved in the tie will each get one “sudden death” card. This will continue until the tie is broken. A player cannot be raced out of the tournament. In the event that a player has only one chip left, the regular race procedure will take place. If that player loses the race, (s)he will be given one chip of the smallest denomination still in play.
33. During the chip race, players are asked to stay at their tables until their table has been raced off. Then those players will be asked to leave the tournament room. Players will not be allowed to remain in the tournament room during breaks.
34. Players can NOT touch another player’s chips at any time, for any reason. While the Clicks’ Pit Bosses appreciate that players might wish to help, we wish to preserve the integrity of the game. The only exception to this rule is when a player is in the blind and not at the table.
35. Once a player mucks his cards, they are out of play. This is true even when the player was in the big blind and could have checked.
36. If a dealer kills an unprotected hand, the player will have no redress and will not be entitled to his or her chips back. An exception would be if a player raised and his or her raise has not been called yet, (s)he would be entitled to receive his or her raise back.
37. A player must be at the table by the time all players have completed hands in order to have his or her hand live. The big blind’s hand will be dead if (s)he is not there to act on it when the last card is dealt. A player within sight of the table is NOT considered “at the table”.
38. Calling for the clock procedures: Once a reasonable amount of time has passed and a clock is called for, a player will be given one (1) minute to make a decision. If action has not been taken by the time the minute it over, there will be a ten (10) second countdown. If a player has not acted on his hand by the time the countdown is over, the hand will be dead. Players should notify a Pit Boss if they wish to call for the clock so that timekeeping can be kept.
39. No live straddle is allowed.
40. Player’s verbal declarations in turn are binding. Action out of turn may be binding. If there is a discrepancy between a player’s verbal statement and the amount of chips put into the pot, the bet is corrected to the verbal statement.
41. An oversized chip before the flop is a call; after the flop, if a player states raise and throws in an oversized chip, the raise will be the maximum raise allowed, up to the value of the chip.
42. The minimum bet is always equal to the big blind unless a player has acted. A player placing a bet higher than the big blind has established the new minimum allowable for a raise. After all players have acted and the next card is dealt, a new round of betting begins with the minimum bet equal again to the big blind.
43. If a player puts in a raise of fifty percent (50%) or more of the previous bet, (s)he will be required to make a full raise. The raise will be exactly the minimum raise allowed.
44. Less than a full raise does not reopen the betting to a player that has already acted. A player who has already checked or called cannot subsequently raise an all-in bet that is less than the full size of the last bet or raise.
45. When raising, a player must either put the amount of the raise out in one motion or state the raise amount. By stating the word raise, a player protects his or her right to raise, but the raise must be made in one additional motion unless (s)he states the amount.
46. All cards will be turned face up once a player is all in and all betting action is complete. The cards will be turned up before the next cards are dealt.
47. Verbal declarations as to the content of a players hand are not binding. However, at Clicks’ discretion, any player deliberately miscalling his hand may be penalized.
48. Dealers cannot kill a winning hand that was turned face up and was obviously the winning hand. A player who mucks their own hand will not be allowed to take them back to see if they had indeed won the hand after mucking. Other players shall not touch or muck anyone else’s cards.
49. Odd chips: The odd chip(s) will go to the high hand. In flop games where there are two (2) or more high hands, the odd chip(s) will go to the left of the button. There will be an exception to this rule: An attempt will be made in identical hand situations to split the pot as evenly as possible.
50. Side pots: Each side pot will be split as a separate pot. They will not be mixed together before they are split.
51. Once a player has been knocked out of tournament play, (s)he is no longer allowed to be seated at a table.
52. Spectators are allowed in designated areas only and will never be allowed to be standing by players at the tables during tournament action.
53. At the end of the last round of betting, the last aggressor in that betting round must show their cards first. If there was no bet, the player left of the button shows first, and so on in a clockwise direction.
54. MP3 players are allowed, as long as they are not equipped with communication devices.
55. At the end of a hand, a player revealing one card must reveal the other if asked.
